Rewilding Through Writing: Developmental Sessions
Every Other Thursday starting Feb. 13th from 2-4pm EST.
These classes are for RTW and Writing For The Wild students who are developing work. This is a small group (8 ppl max) for writers looking to focus on and develop one essay, poem or portion of a larger writing project.
Basic Format: Before we meet, writers select the piece they intend to work on. Throughout our sessions, we'll talk about developmental edits, line edits, pacing, and all the things a piece needs before submitting for publication. And of course, we'll talk about the many ways to navigate the changing landscape of publishing.
Writers will have time and space to read during each sessions and to talk through the vision for their work and any challenges they’re facing in the creative process. The class will share a central doc for notes and helpful links. As always, the group guides the work. Vanessa faciliates based on writers’ needs.

An important note: Sharing creative work requires vulnerability, and it is important for that experience to feel safe and supported. I aim to foster a space where students feel encouraged to bring their most honest selves to class and to the page. As a group, I ask that we practice deep listening, compassion, and acceptance of everyone involved. Discrimination, harassment, or abuse on the basis of ability, age, appearance, economic class, gender identification, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or any other aspect of the participant's identity will not be tolerated, and will result in dismissal from class and community.
